Marketing Takeaways from the Road

The CRMLS Avocado Volume 9 (June 2026)

Notes from 1000WATT’s Signal Conference

You’ve probably attended a real estate conference or two in your time with speakers addressing issues like market trends, new technologies, and other industry shifts. Hey, we even host our own, which you are cordially invited to. But the skills of marketing can apply to any industry, which is why our team headed to Denver for 1000WATT’s Signal Conference, a gathering of marketers from real estate and beyond, to learn what works in our modern era. Here are a few insights we wanted to share with our community that can help you promote yourself that much better.

Reaching the Right People at the Right Time

A recurring theme of the conference was that this is a golden era for personal marketing. With tools for creating custom CMAs, building personalized websites, or even just designing top-tier business cards, there have never been more options to create your brand and make materials to support it. But it isn’t just about doing the most. It’s about positioning yourself so that you’re ready to pounce on opportunities. Having a stable of marketing materials and supportive tools will help ensure good clients come to you when they need you most.

The personal thoughts of CRMLS’s Chief Marketing Officer

My biggest takeaway was this pearl of wisdom; “a brand is a feeling something gives us that explains why we use it.” Branding can seem like a big task and while you could boast about success, it’s really about how you want people to feel when they engage with you. Trust, comfort, and determination can be just as important as metrics.

Doing the Dumb Thing

Andy Pearson, featured speaker and VP of Creative at soft drink company Liquid Death, advised asking ourselves what the dumbest thing we could possibly do was, and then going out and doing it. No, we don’t mean punching yourself in the face, but rather what seems so crazy it just might work. Liquid Death chose to use the familiar styles and fonts of beer and energy drink branding to set themselves apart from other water companies. Evoking an idealized mountain spring might be the most obvious water marketing tactic, but it won’t make you stand out. How can you subvert trends in real estate marketing to make yourself notably different from the competition? Try considering something stupid to get your brain storming.

Noise-Free Media: Real Estate News

Because 1000WATT is focused on real estate, there was plenty of talk about how much information we’re getting and how fast we’re getting it. It seems every day brings a new seismic shift to our industry. That’s why we’re proud to offer Real Estate News, a daily periodical that gives you news without the noise. As a CRMLS user, you can claim your no-cost subscription and get the headlines that really matter delivered to your inbox every day. Staying on top of the important stuff has never been easier.
